About PrintableRuler

This site started with a school worksheet asking for measurements in both centimeters and inches, and no ruler around the house that covered both. Searching for a printable one turned up plenty of results, but most were just static images that printed slightly the wrong size, with nothing explaining why. Nobody wants to guess whether a printed ruler is actually accurate.

That's really the whole idea behind PrintableRuler: pick a length and a unit, print it, and trust the numbers. It's free to use, works for school projects and craft work and small repairs alike, and doesn't ask for an account or an email address to get a ruler on paper.

Most printable ruler sites give you one fixed image and call it done. This one is closer to an actual tool:

• A custom ruler builder where you set the length, unit, and paper size instead of picking from one fixed size.
• Automatic tiling when a ruler is longer than one sheet, with alignment marks so the pages line up once taped together.
• A print accuracy checker. The most common reason a printed ruler comes out wrong is a printer quietly scaling the page to fit — something most sites never even mention.
• An on-screen digital ruler with manual calibration, for whenever a printer isn't within reach.

Rulers are drawn directly in the browser using real physical CSS units — centimeters, millimeters, inches — so what you see is what prints, as long as the printer's scale is set to 100%. Nothing gets uploaded anywhere; it all happens on your device.
